Vitamin D and Afro-Americans

A recent study looks at the racial variance of Vitamin D and vascular calcifications in Afro-Americans. The study consisted of 340 Type II Diabetic, Afro Americans -140 men (average age 56.3 years; BMI 35.6; 21% smokers) and 200 women (average age 55.1; BMI 37.9; smokers 25.3% ) Vascular calcifications were assessed for the coronary, aortic, and carotid arteries.
